As a Capital Projects Manager for the City of Raleigh Parks, I had the privilege of working on the public engagement process for the Sertoma Arts Center in collaboration with HH Architects and City of Raleigh Staff. This project requires significant public engagement to ensure the final design reflects the community's vision.
Facilitating Public Input
One of my primary roles is to facilitate a robust public engagement process. This involved:
Creating and Implementing an Online Survey: Development of a comprehensive online survey that garnered over 4,000 responses. This valuable feedback provided insights into the community's preferences for the Arts Center's design, programming, and amenities.
Organizing an On-Site Public Event: Coordination of an in-person event to further engage with the community. This provided an opportunity for residents to share their ideas directly with project team members and to learn more about the project's goals.
Coordinating with Stakeholders: I worked closely with the project consultant, HH Architecture, Arts Center staff, and other city departments to ensure seamless communication and collaboration. This included coordinating press releases, printed promotional materials, and on-site signage.
The Impact of Public Engagement
By prioritizing public engagement, the goal is to create a project that truly reflects the community's needs and desires. The input we received from residents will be valuable in shaping the design and programming of the Sertoma Arts Center.
I'm proud to have played a role in this exciting project and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the Raleigh community.
